Every
year, PGA pros take to the fairway of famed Harbour Town Golf
Links to vie for the champions tartan jacket at the
Verizon Heritage. Ranked as the #1 course in South Carolina
by Golf Magazine, this is the most sought after course to
play on Hilton Head Island. Designed by Pete Dye in consultation
with Jack Nicklaus, Harbour Town Golf Links is reminiscent
of Scottish course of olde. Measuring 6,973 yards from the
Heritage tees with a slope of 146, the par-71 course is deceptively
short by today's standards and requires perfectly positioned
shots, arrow-straight accuracy and unwavering consistency
on the part of the player.
Harbour Towns set of par-3s ranks among the finest in
the world, and its par-4 18th hole is one of the most feared
in all of golf, particularly when the wind is blowing off
Calibogue Sound.
Directions
Purchase a day pass to enter The Sea Pines Resort by entering
through the Greenwood Gate. From there, stay on Greenwood
Drive to the Fraser Traffic Circle (approximately 2.5 miles)
and take the first right off the circle onto Lighthouse Road.
Remain on Lighthouse Road for approximately one mile to reach
Lighthouse Lane. Turn left onto Lighthouse Lane and the Harbour
Town Golf Links will be on your left. (see
location on interactive map) |
