The Dolphin Head Golf Course
was the first course developed in the Hilton Head
Plantation. Gary Player, and the firm of Davis,
Kirby and Player, was commissioned to design and
construct the course, which opened for play in 1974.
In 1975 the Hilton Head Plantation Company (HHPC)
formed Dolphin Head Golf Club (DHGC), with plans
for conversion to a fully private, member-owned
Club. In 1983 the members completed the purchase
of Dolphin Head Golf Club from the HHPC.
Directions
Located near the north end of the Island in Hilton
Head Plantation. The plantation entrance is located
between mile markers 3 and 4 on William Hilton Parkway
(Hwy 278 Business). Turn into Hilton Head Plantation
and approach the guardhouse to request a pass for
Dolphin Head Golf Club. Proceed to High Bluff Road
(approximately 1 mile on your right) and turn right.
